French Industrial Study

Sammamish, Washington

How do you take a forgotten space and give it a purpose? Like many suburban homes our clients had a bonus room, and up until this point the room was the kids playroom and mom’s getaway, really a mish-mash of furniture and uses. It was time to define the room’s function and come up with an interior that would be comfortable and cozy, especially in the low light of winter. We began by pulling images from French libraries and lofts then paired a little midcentury industrial and found that the pairing provided a rich base pallet for the eclectic worldly taste of our clients. We also had a challenge of many odd angles in the room, and by smoothing out the angles with a vocabulary of curved cabinetry and details we defined spaces for study and relaxation that felt warm and inviting.
